Ive been listening to shinichi osawa heavy these days, here is a remix he did with Clazziqaui Project "Prayers"
Its not all Sake-ized its more that malted liquors fit under the legal catch all term お酒 unless it is closer to beer in which case its then Hopposhyu. Drinks like Cola Shock, Chu Hi, etc are usually based on Sho Chu. Its more like vodka because its distilled, not fermented like Sake.
That said, I am SO sick of Japanese beer, its so fuckin wimpy and bland.

Yep you are right on that. Thats what happens when only a couple companies hold a monopoly on alcohol industry. Same shit different can. Though the "Coctail partners" are pretty decent and vary wildly in flavor.
